Responding to the representations of the public which was submitted by Festival Organizing Chairman cum Local MLA Passang Dorjee Sona, the MoS Home said that Mechukha and Monigong will benefit from the proposed road from Tawang to Vijoynagar saying that the proposed road will touch Monigong and Mechukha. To realize the mega border road project, even the government is ready to invite foreign consortiums (companies) for constructing the project, Rijiju disclosed.
On land compensation of various projects under Mechukha constituency, Rijiju said that he had discussed with the concerned authority on the matter so that the land donors may get their compensation. At the same time he appealed to the public to donate the unused land to the government for developmental projects. “The developments are being affected by legal petitions filed by compensation seekers’ he added. Unless people judiciously use the funds provided by the government for developmental activities, no development is possible, he added.
He further exhorted that Arunachal needs special attention from the Centre especially
on the developmental front. “After 1962 Chinese aggression, Indian government paid
less attention to Arunachal, the same attitude will not be repeated again” he assured.

ITANAGAR, Nov 09: The debutant club Subansiri United FC (SUFC) played out a goalless draw against Football Club Doimukh (FCD) in the opening match of the second Gora Tamer Memorial Football Tournament at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun today.
Both the teams started the match on a cautious note with occasional forays into rival territory. Neither team was able to make any inroads into other’s end at the first half.
After a barren first half, the second half saw some aggressive play from both sides but neither team was able to score and the match ended in a goalless draw. Goalkeepers of both the sides were outstanding as they stood firm to ensure their sides remained unbeaten.
Subansiri generated few scoring opportunities in the dying moments but poor finishing cost the team.
Todo United FC will be up against Senki Soccer FC in tomorrow’s first match at 12 pm while the second match of the day will be held between Young Brothers FC and Gora Makik SC at 2 pm.
Earlier addressing at the inaugural function, Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi said that icons of smaller communities and their contributions to the society usually do not get proper recognition and get lost in oblivion. He appreciated Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) and sponsors of the tournament for organizing the tournament in memory of the Gora Tamer, who was a renowned social worker, reformer and political interpreter.
Advising the players, the Chief Secretary asked them to learn to accept defeat gracefully since winning and losing is part and parcel of sports. Further, winning a game or two does not make any team or player better than other, he said, adding that a true sportsperson is someone, who can accept defeat gracefully.
He also asked the players to maintain sportsman spirit and discipline throughout the tournament before declaring the tournament open in presence of APFA president and former MP Takam Sanjoy, Secretary Planning Sonam Chombay, APFA general secretary, G Doke and hundreds of soccer lovers.
In his speech, Chombey while speaking about growing popularity of Soccer in the country, especially after launching of Indian Super League (ISL), urged the APFA to make efforts to hunt and groom soccer talents to ensure that at least one or two players from the state gets chance to play in the next edition of the ISL.
Late Gora Tamer served as president of Panchayat Raj (now ASM) of Palin and was awarded with President medal by then Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru for his outstanding contribution in the Panchayat Raj and social reformation in 1965. He was appointed as Political Interpreter (PI) in 1971 and resigned in 1975. During his short tenure as PI, he took up many social reforms, like eradication of forced and child marriages and many other social evils that prevailed during those days. He breathed his last in 1984 aged 70.

Seminar says no to polygamy, child marriage
ITANAGAR, Nov 09: A social awareness seminar on status of women and child marriage was organized by Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) in collaboration with the members of Don Bosco College (DBC) July here yesterday. ‘Polygamy has been the custom of the various tribes in Arunachal Pradesh and ways and means to change it,’ was the speakers’ views in the seminar.
Every speaker opined that in every aspect, child marriage curtails freedom of an individual with greater impact on girl child, and therefore it needs to be changed. After attaining maturity the engaged couple becomes aware of bad effects of child marriage and express their feelings of opposition. In many cases this turns out to be a ‘forced marriage’ as the parties insist on sticking to their earlier commitment for fear of pride and defamation.
Women speakers like Padmashree Mamang Dai, Taw Aju, Tadar Mepung and Likha Kiran stressed on the need for a change in the mind set of the today’s women in Arunachal Pradesh. Senior members like Jathi Pulu, Tadar Dominic, Kime Aya also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Pekhi Nabum, APCA Secretary General said that the women of Arunachal Pradesh have come a long way from earlier days when they had to live under patriarchal system. But now they can be seen in every walk of life, contributing towards holistic development of the society.
Sighting the examples of various successful women in the state like Nyari Welly, first women MLA, Padmashree Bini Yanga, Padmashree Late Omem Moyong Deori, Ansu Jamshenpa and Tine Mena both Everesters, he said ‘Women are and can be equal to her counterparts. The women in Arunachal Pradesh are still in delusion or trauma by belittling or restricting themselves to marriage, family and social life, although there is no or negligible compelling situations now unlike earlier days where child marriage, abduction or forced marriage and exchange system was prevalent’.
Child marriage was practiced in most of the tribes in Arunachal Pradesh, except Apatanis who have abolished it once and for all in the year 1960 by the Apatani Students Union. According to the child marriage data, Kurung Kumey has the highest ratio closely followed by East Kameng.

MLA inaugurates burial ground at Keilya

ZIRO, Nov 09: The decade long demand for a community burial ground by the people of Taru Kago Lyalyang and Taro Taku clans of Hija village under Lower Subansiri district finally materialized with MLA Tage Taki officially inaugurating the burial ground at Keilya near here today.
These clans had their own community burial ground at the present site of Govt. Hr. Sec. School Hija but it was donated to Govt. for establishment and extension of the said school five decades ago. Thereafter, they did not have any community burial ground until they purchased a plot of land for the purpose this year through self contribution which was inaugurated today.
The MLA appreciated All Taru Kago Lyalyang and Taro Taku Burial Ground Committee (ATKLTTBGC) for developing the community burial ground within a short span of time.
Responding to a memorandum submitted by its secretary seeking assistance for expansion of the newly developed burial ground, the MLA assured to fulfill it within five months.
Talking about some problems like drinking water and poor power supply faced by the people of Ziro area, the MLA said that we mostly depend upon small streams to meet the water requirements here. But waters of those streams are not sufficient enough to manage both paddy fields and human consumption due to increase in population. In order to overcome this problem, we have to locate other reliable sources.
Pange River is the only alternative source of water in Ziro valley for which I have already submitted a memorandum to Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home during his last visit to Ziro, he said.
The MLA assured to solve these two major problems within his tenure. He also assured to bring significant changes through developmental activities as he committed earlier.
ZPM Dani Buker appealed to the MLA for provisioning of basic amenities especially electricity and drinking water to all the extended villages of Hija village. Concerned over the growing incidents of crime in the area, he suggested parents to guide their children properly.
Apatani Youth Association’s president, Taku Chatung appreciated ATKLTTBGC for taking up such a noble job by developing a community burial ground on self contribution leaving a good example for others to follow, who always depend only on government’s assistance for such purposes.

These PHCs are being managed by the trust under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode of National Health Mission, Dept of Health and Family Welfare in order to improve the Public health care system in both the states.
Karuna Trust has been using IT based technology which is developed by LOGISTIMO Pvt. Ltd. in all 22 PHCs of Arunachal and Meghalaya using cloud computing technology where all the stock inventory of medicines, surgical items, laboratory items, vaccines and hospital equipments are maintained through a GPRS enabled mobile phone by the PHCs. This system provides live visibility of these medicines to Karuna Trust who can take necessary steps for the replenishment of these essential items within seven days in the PHCs once the stock of any essential item is finished or exhausted. This innovative essential supply chain management in PHC is unique and first of its kind in the country which can help for the smooth and continuous supply of essential healthcare items which can in turn saves the life of hundreds of people.

Dibang boat mishap: Another body recovered

ROING, Nov 09: A second body belonging to one of the three missing employees of NHPC who had been washed away by the strong currents when their boat capsized in the Dibang river on November 1 last, was recovered on Friday. The body of one of the contract employees was recovered on November 3 last.
A reward of Rs 10000 was announced by the NHPC for the founder of its lost members.
The dead body, confirmed to be that of the missing junior engineer, was discovered by some fishermen late in the evening. The body, reportedly, was found floating on the surface of the water as it had swollen up from being in the water for too long. After being informed, the search party immediately reached the site and brought back the body to Roing on that same night.
Meanwhile, search for the third missing person is still on.

APP raising day observed at Ziro

ZIRO, Nov 09: For the first time in the district, the Lower Subansiri district police celebrated the 42nd raising day of Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP) at Police Station complex here yesterday.
Attending the programme, Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang while congratulating the APP on attaining 42 glorious years of service to people, appreciated Lower Subansiri district police for solving many major cases within last few months and suggested them to keep up their spirit and tempo in future too.
“At the time of crisis or any emergency people remember God first then police in second. Hence police is considered next to the God”, the DC opined.
In order to keep their dignity and status intact they should maintain cordial relationship with civil societies as well as the department for effective delivery of service to people, he added.
Quoting a proverb, “Justice without force is powerless and force without justice is tyrannical”, he said that the decision of the court will not be an effective tool unless the order is implemented through police but they should not take the law in their hands which would amount to tyranny.

Science workshops conducted at Khonsa & Dayun
ITANAGAR, Nov 09: Seva Bhararti in collaboration with Jnana Prabodhini, Pune conducted science workshops in the middle schools at Khonsa and Dayun from Nov 3 to 8. The main motto of ‘Gyan Setu’ is to spread the joy of education among children, provide exposure towards the world of science, technology etc. and to inspire volunteers and children to develop proactive attitude towards solving various problems before the society.
At Khonsa around 500 students from eight schools participated in the science workshop. The 6 resource persons from Pune made efforts to clear the concept of physics through simple science activities like balloon car, sprinkler, vacuum cleaner, capacity measurement of lungs etc. The second group of resource persons also conducted science workshop covering eights schools under Dayun circle.

Make dream the aim and purpose of life
Dear Editor,
No person is born awful. Every person has a human corner in their heart how dire the person might become. And every person has a hidden dream and a little wish somewhere inside their head and heart to see himself living in a world with no fights and only peace. I guess everyone wishes that but most forgot. Here is some to remind you about it.
Society is where we live in; no one is early man at this present time. Every comfort we get in our day to day life we get it from society. Even the basic needs like cloth, food, proper shelter; everything comes from the society. Without society our lives would be terrible. Don’t we notice that we are superior than animals to a great extent only with the existence of society? So don’t these make us feel that we are morally obliged to serve society for its betterment? Then why are we killing it? Why do people hate each other? Why is our social circle of safety and comfort so small? Why do people don’t bother to help others? Why there is no trust? Why corruption? Why narrowness? We can make our mind broader and be moral human beings. What is going to make us more human? Not our hatred which cannot even conquer itself. Not our ego which cannot even withstand itself. Not the tribe or region which is so finite. Not religion, religions has divided our society don’t you see it? It’s the spirituality that will unite and it’s that one single thought in your head to be a better person and that determination in your heart to take that step will make it.
We have seen our past with world wars and civil wars, terror attacks and everyday harassment, rapes and murder, etc; when are we starting to live in peace. No one is going to live forever and make up to the unknown duration to future where there will be no hatred, no war, no jealousy, no greed; no column in newspaper about rape, murder, loot and who has even guaranteed for it. Present is the moment to take that step towards humanity. Drop your hurtful past and future full of anxiety, sentimental religion and community full of ego and take the present moment of yourself full of happiness and zeal to be more human than ever. Not for someone but for everyone and for our self and our present. We can make our families a bigger family with world full of people.
Now sit back, relax and think about it to fulfill the dream. Let it not be just a mere dream but an aim and purpose of life.

Increase the upper age limit
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the kind attention of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) towards an important issue which needs to be addressed emphatically by the Commission.
That, the upper age limit for appearing in the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service (APCS) examination conducted by the APPSC needs to be relaxed from present 33 years to at least 35 years or more for APST as a special case. This is required given the fact that we have lost one precious year due to the legal tussle between commission and the candidates whose forms were rejected initially.

To draw my point, it should be mentioned here that even UPSC has relaxed upper age limit to two more years for all categories due to slight change in its syllabus. So, now, it has been increased from 35 to 37 years for STs. Ours, is also a very genuine reason as we have clearly lost more than a year and the uncertainty still looms large.
It must also be mentioned here that every state in India generally follow the upper age limit of 35 years for STs; in many cases, it is more than 35 years. For example, in Assam upper age limit is 36 years for all categories which is further relaxable to upto 41 years for SCs/STs. Tripura follows upper age limit of 40 years which is relaxable upto 45 years for SCs/STs. In Punjab Civil Service upper age limit is 37 years which is relaxable upto 42 years for SCs/OBCs. UP government in 2012 increased the maximum age limit for candidates appearing in the examination conducted by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission from 35 to 40 years which is further relaxable upto 45 years for SCs/STs/OBCs. Bihar and Jharkhand governments have already increased the maximum age limit to 40 years which is further relaxable upto 45 years for SCs/STs/OBCs. Here, the doubt should not be, why the state of Arunachal Pradesh would follow the norm of 35 years or more just because other states are doing so, rather, the matter to ponder upon is, "why Arunachal Pradesh is an exception when all the states in the union of India including the UPSC follow the upper age limit of 35 years or even more which is the general norm?"
There are many candidates who are appearing for the APCS-
Every candidate deserves equal chance to compete and those on age relaxation should not be put to disadvantage which exactly is the case at present. Therefore, it is our humble request to the learned members of the APPSC to kindly look into the matter seriously. I appeal them to consider our genuine case and do the needful initiative for which the APPSC will be much appreciated. The positive action of the APPSC in this direction will help rekindle our faith in the ultimate fairness of the commission.

When we will get our certificates ?
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the kind attention of concerned authorities towards the injustice being meted out to the students who had hope to get placement during the job mela held last time. The 1st and 2nd batch, who has taken the skill development training from NIFA (National institute of finance and Accounts), Delhi are facing tough time.
Every parents dream for the brighter future of their children. Last year Govt. Of Arunachal Pradesh started job fair with the motive to provide training and job to the unemployed youths of the state. It seemed to be a great success when thousands of unemployed youths joined the job fair. I also joined with my friends with a hope that after the completion of training, we would get training completion certificate from the vocational training providers (VTPs) and get job somewhere to be able to take care of our families.
With this hope we completed our training with great zeal and enthusiasm. But things didn't turn out the way we expected. On completion of the training, the VTPs failed to provide us Training completion certificates. The job mela did give us the training but failed to certify our training.
On enquiry with the Nifa, Delhi, the authorities told us was, “Next week tak apko mil jayga." However many weeks have passed by but till now we have not received our certficates.
In this regard I would like to request ministry of industries to look into the matter and take necessary action. The training certificates can add to our curriculum vitae, which will be helpful while applying for jobs in the state.

No ministers from NE region inducted
Former Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and three others were on Sunday inducted into the Union Cabinet as Prime Minister Narendra Modi expanded his council of ministers, bringing in 21 new ministers as Shiv Sena kept away from the exercise. Suresh Prabhu, a former Shiv Sainik and power minister in Vajpayee government, senior BJP leader JP Nadda and Jat leader from Haryana Birender Singh, who joined BJP ahead of assembly elections, were the other Cabinet ministers to take oath of office and secrecy at a function in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Unresolved issues between Sena and BJP in Maharashtra stopped Sena MP Anil Desai from taking oath as he reportedly returned to Mumbai from the airport after arriving here on Sunday morning.
However, surprisingly today not a single minister from North East region was inducted. Ministerial aspirants from NE region like NPP leader Purno A. Sangma and NPF leader Neiphiu Rio were left out from the cabinet expansion. This expansion was predicted to be a move that is likely to give a big push to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh – with an eye on elections – and reward Maharashtra and Haryana for delivering decisive victories for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recent assembly polls. There was high hope that Modi government will give more representation to NE states but things are turning out differently. Such neglect will only add to the growing distance between NE people and mainland Indians.
